Vivian Springer,84, died at her adult foster care home in Portland on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014. She was born to Guy and Goldie (Baker) Chitwood in Ellington, Miss. on Jan. 13, 1930.
As a child she moved with her family to Bly, where she would meet and fall in love with Charles Springer. They were married in Bly on Sept. 23, 1945. During their married life they lived in California, Idaho, New Mexico and Arizona before coming back to Oregon where they settled in Lakeview in 1968 to finish raising their family.
Vivian was an avid gardener and loved working in her yard and garden. She and her husband were long time active members of the Lakeview Trinity Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Charles; infant daughter, Janet and step-son, Thomas.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Joel and Linda Springer of Redmond, Dan and Donna Springer of Vancouver, Wash., Dave and Amy Springer of La Center, Wash. and Mike and Vickie Springer of Portland; sons, John Springer and Paul Springer of Lakeview; step-son Charles Springer of Medicine Lakes, Wash.; step-daughter Charlotte Chitwood of Cambridge, Idaho and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Lakeview Trinity Baptist Church on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. followed by committal in the Sunset Park Cemetery. A potluck dinner will be shared in the Church Fellowship Hall following the services.
