Robert “Bob” Powers

Robert “Bob” Powers,81, passed away quietly at home in Coquille surrounded by family and friends.  He was born May 10, 1932, in Neenah, Wis.

In his life Bob was a preacher for the Church of Christ working mainly for small congregations and doing building construction to supplement their income.  Bob loved singing especially with the barbershop chorus.  He was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved to hunt and fish and loved the beauty in nature.

Bob lived in Lakeview in the late fifties and early sixties, moving here to work as a carpenter building homes for the uranium workers families.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack Powers and Mabel Franklin, as well as beloved daughter Joan Zacher.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Billie, sons Paul Powers of Lakeview; Mike Powers of Boise, Idaho; Bobbi Wendelin of Blue Springs, Mo; daughters Jeannie Brittell of Lakeview;  Maria Sanders of Nampa, Idaha; brother Mike Powers of Prineville, sisters Colleen Cox of Central Point; Patty Burres of Irrigon;  and 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 in Coquille.
