John Wesley Sutfin

John Wesley Sutfin, 52, passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2015 at Lake District Hospital in Lakeview, surrounded by his loving wife, three children and grandson.
John was born on Oct. 19, 1965 in Marysville Calif. to Adelys and Bill Sutfin.
He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1981 and began his college career in 1982 at Shasta College.
John decided to move to Klamath Falls, where he began his own herd of cattle.  He worked for Newman and Crebbin Logging Trucking Company, hauling logs for ten years.
In 1990, John met and married his best friend, Desiree Criscuolo.  They had two sons: William Brock Sutfin in 1992 and Neil Thomas Sutfin in 1994.  John just loved his boys and did everything he could with them.  They started out at a very young age growing up and learning the ropes of ranch hands and the production of beef.  In the early summer of 1999, John moved his family to the Sutfin Ranch so he could be there to help his dad and start a full-time family life in ranching.
Some of John’s favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, watching the nightly and morning news, watching the sunset, watching RFD T.V., taking the boys shooting and long drives in the mountains with Desiree.  He also enjoyed haying and his cattle.  He loved spending time with his grandson, Ryder, taking him for tractor rides, rides on the quad to check cows down in the field and gathering wood.
There were three things that John always expressed in his own words.  First, he loved being a father and husband.  Second, being a rancher, running cattle on free wide-open spaces, open range, no phones, being one with God.  Lastly, watching the sunset at Goose Lake and saying a prayer.
John was preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Adelys Sutfin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Desiree Sutfin; sons, William Brock Sutfin and Neil Thomas Sutfin; daughter, Kristin Criscuolo; brothers, Buck, Mark and Scott Sutfin; sister, Jacki Sutfin; grandson, Ryder T.W. Criscuolo and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at 3:00 p.m., followed by his burial at the New Pine Creek Cemetery and a reception held at the Elk’s Lodge.
Ousley Osterman Huffstutter Funeral Chapel has charge of the arrangements.

Donald “Ray” Bateman, 79, died very peacefully at his home in Springfield, surrounded by his family and a close friend on Friday, June 19, 2015.
He was born in Pound, Va. on July 11, 1935.
Following his education, Ray was drafted into the Army and served honorably on active duty from April 1955 to April 1957.
At the time of Ray’s death, he and the former Marilyn Mills of Lakeview had been married for 48 years.  They had lived in Springfield since their marriage.
Ray was a very loyal employee as evidenced by his 50 years of employment with States Industries Plywood Mill.  After his retirement he was called on regularly to come in and straighten things out for them.  He was as close to being irreplaceable as any man could possibly be.
He and Marilyn shared a hobby that they both enjoyed very much and that was raising and breeding rabbits for show and pets.  They traveled to many shows with their bunnies and made many friends in the process.  He was really a jack-of-all-trades and had many projects around his house and barn.  He enjoyed working with his hands and making things for his friends and loved ones.  He had a special love for wind chimes and enjoyed working in and adorning his house and yard with them and other quirky decorations.
Ray was a quiet man.  Usually observing those around him.  He had a great sense of humor and couldn’t hide it when he was thinking about something funny.  His smile always gave him away.
Ray is survived by his wife, daughters and grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be held in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
