Arlie Jerome Parmentier

Arlie Jerome Parmentier, 81, died at the Lake District Hospital on Saturday, May 31, 2014.

Arlie was born to George and Lila (Clement) Parmentier in Wallace, Idaho on June 29, 1932. He lived his early years in Idaho where he completed his education. He lived in the Willamette Valley before moving to Klamath Falls where he started his long career in the construction trade. He started driving a truck and then moved up to heavy equipment, finally settling in as a cat skinner, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was very proud of his skill operating a cat.

Arlie and Lola Martin were married in Reno, Nev. on June 16, 1959. They lived in various places in the Northwest before settling in Lakeview, where he had lived for the past 52 years.

Arlie truly enjoyed being out in the woods. He also received a lot of pleasure from hunting, fishing, playing solitaire, watching television and most of all playing with his cats.

Arlie was preceded in death by his parents; son, Curtis Parmentier; sister, Echo Sullivan and brothers, Lance and Larry Parmentier.

He is survived by his wife, Lola of Lakeview; son, Rick Parmentier of Lakeview; daughter, Terra Parmentier and her significant other, Matt Shaffer of Welleton, Okla.; daughter and son-in-law, Larene and Jim Rixx of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A grave side service will be held at the Sunset Park Cemetery on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Following the service there will be a potluck at the Eagles Lodge.

Contributions in Arlie’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2350 Oakmont Way #200, Eugene 97401-6108 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Desert Rose Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
